Almaz Ashene has successfully implemented inclusive education in the rural areas of Ethiopia, providing invaluable assistance to individuals who face challenges in traveling long distances to urban centers for learning. The school construction initiatives undertaken by the organization have played a crucial role in bringing education closer to communities that were previously underserved. Almaz Ashene’s steadfast commitment to inclusive education reflects a belief in the power of ensuring that every individual, regardless of their circumstances, has the opportunity to access quality learning. AACFSA’s education project has achieved significant success in the community with its School Construction program. To further extend its reach, the organization has expanded its operations to the Oromia West Showa Zone and Amhara Regional States Debre-birihan, with the objective of making education accessible to school-going children and families in previously unreached areas.
One of the successful projects of AACFSA’s School Construction program is Mieraf High School, which is located in Addis Ababa Gulelle Sub City and has the capacity to accommodate up to 4000 students. This school was built and furnished through the joint efforts of AACFSA and Addis Ababa Sub City Education Office, and later handed over to Woreda 10 Education office.
Similarly, AACFSA built Lelistu Gotera Elementary school in Oromia Regional State West Showa Zone Ilugelan Woreda Refiso Kamino Kebele School in 2010 GC. The school has a capacity of 1000 students from 1st to 8th grade per year, and the community played a crucial role in its construction.
In Debre-birihan town, AACFSA constructed another school in 2013 GC, which has the capacity to accommodate 680 school-going students from 1st to 4th grade. The project was implemented with the participation of Sector Government offices and the local community.
Since its inception, AACFSA has positively impacted over 6000 children through its various interventions in education.
Established by the founder late Mrs. ALMAZASHEN in 1991 to support children abandoned by loss of their parents by fire arm explosion happened during the downfall of “Derege” regime. . The founder further expand the NGO in full recognition of the magnitude of the problem of women, children and youths in the country.
